Is Lady Gaga Really A Style Innovator?

Hold the presses – some fashion critics are beginning to think that Lady Gaga is getting all of her fashion inspiration from 80s music sensations. Its plain to see that there is just a little bit of Madonna in Lady G, but her latest video, ‘The Edge of Glory,’ seems to more than just reference some of Madonna’s work. Appearing in multiple outfits, with one resembling a biker dominatrix, Lady Gaga pulls off a dance routine that looks like it was pulled straight out of ‘Flash Dance.’

So, has Lady Gaga crossed the line between immigration and flagrant theft? The singer best known for donning a gown made out of frog stuffed animals seems to be running out of ideas. Of course, its not fair to say that Gaga is not creative. All pop icons take cues from one another, because let’s face it – there’s only so many different ways that you can wear a leotard and buckled high heel boots.

Lady Gaga recently received the 2012 Council of Fashion Designers Of America Awards Fashion Icon trophy for being daring in a time of boredom, but kudos should really be going to her stylists. Even when the diva is dressed down, at least one element of her attire is entertaining. She may not be as avant garde as she would like to think that she is, but Lady Gaga is certainly no copycat. Wacky fashion trends will come and go, but the people that start them are here to stay.

Run A Successful Company By Purchasing Uniforms

Even if you are proud to foster a relaxed work environment nothing will make your employees more productive than by assigning uniforms. Many people have preconceived notions about corporate uniforms because they have had negative experiences in the past. While it is true that some uniforms are made from cheap, scratchy materials and lack any semblance of personality, many things have changed in recent years. You can choose a new set of uniforms for your workers that reflect your laid back style.

Your staff will become more punctual when they don’t have to spend hours figuring out what to wear to work. You will be able to quickly identify members of different departments by taking note of their attire. Assigned uniforms will inspire your employees to have a better sense of company pride. They will identify as a single cohesive unit instead of as nameless individuals. When one team succeeds, your entire staff can celebrate and reap the rewards.

Not only can you use uniforms as a corporate tax write-off, you can use them to promote your business. Make sure that you mention the fact that your employees wear uniforms in your company literature. Your top level executives will be impressed when you tell them that you have just purchased uniforms for your entire company.

Change your opinion of corporate uniforms by taking a look at the latest styles and designs. Once you see how hip and trendy they can be you will be ready to place your order. Stop trying to write your company’s dress code rules in an effort to appease everyone. Your customers may come first, but make everyone that is involved with your company happy by purchasing new uniforms that are professional. Give your esteemed workers one less job related responsibility by making uniforms a requirement.

Timberland Sold To VF Corporation For $2 Billion

Timberland boots may be worn by both urbanites and hikers, but the company also has a full range of clothing that you may not have even known existed. VF Corporation, which also owns Wrangler Jean Company and The North Face bought the highly successful clothing and footwear company for approximately $2 billion. According to representatives, it is VF Corporation’s aim to increase the profitability of Timberland by approximately 10% over the next year.

Because VF Corporation is aware of what urban audiences want, and has the case available to embark on a major promotional campaign, consumers might just see Timberland boots in the stores of a number of new retailers. A few years back, Timberland began to allow customers to create their own customized boots by making their selections online. Everything from the color of the stitching, soles, and upper leather color, down to the type of material used can be personalized. Although the program was somewhat popular with those in the know, Timberland failed to properly capitalize on its offerings. Now, VF Corporation can come in, make a few changes and make online sales its priority.

VF Corporation also plans on moving into international markets, focusing on particular in Japan, Brazil and Europe. Timberland will retain all of its highly identifiable trademarks, but VF Corporation will begin to mold and shape the company to meet its standards. If VF Corporation is successful in its endeavors, the company could recoup its entire investment and be in the black within a few short years.

Simpson Sisters Team Up For New “Tween” Fashion Line

Jessica Simpson’s fashion empire is valued at $1 billion, but her younger sister has been busy just being a mom lately. Although the singer turned fashion mogul seems to know exactly what women want to wear, she might have a difficult time catering to the teen demographic. Ashlee is currently going through a highly publicized divorce from her husband of barely three years, rocker Pete Wentz. When these two sisters join forces they will be able to dominate the teen fashion market.

They plan on creating an edgy, girly and eclectic line of clothes aimed at young girls aged 7 through 16. Because Ashlee is still associated with Fall Out Boy front man Pete Wentz, the design duo may be able to use the styles work by the band as inspiration. The line will debut by the end of 2011, and the Simpsons have already given the public a sneak peak of what it yet to come. Leggings, fur vests and novelty t-shirt make up the teen fashion line so far, but consumers can also expect to see shoes and other accessories in the near future.

For the Simpson sisters, this fashion line is going to give them to opportunity to reconnect on a personal and professional level. Jessica has been flying high and amassing incredible wealth while Ashlee is trying to find solid ground. If received positively, the yet unnamed fashion brand could be the biggest thing to happen in the teen market since Ashley Kate and Mary Olsen came onto the scene.
